Mild proteinuria.

Resolved question:
On March 10 by serum creatinine level was .98 mg/dl and my urine creatinine level was 175 mg/dl with a protein reading of 51 mg/dl and a protein - creatinine ration of 291 - somewhat elevated. I was dehydrated at the time this test was given and had just given 7 vials of blood before fainting. On March 12 I had these tests repeated with the exception of the serum level. At that time my urine creatinine level had dropped to 45 mg/dl (down from 175), my protein level had dropped to 35 while my protein - creatinine level jumped to 778 - in two days.

Can you help me understand these results and what they mean?

Hello,

Thank you for your consult at DoctorSpring.com.

There are few minor abnormalities in urine report( little bit of protein and blood) and mild elevation of proteinuria( the spot test for protein appears to be fallacious) with normal kidney function.

With a background history of hypertension and hypothyroidism, I would recommend to undergo ultrasound abdomen for kidneys and 24 hours estimation of protein in the urine. Though there appears to be no major problem , a thorough evaluation is warranted only to prove that every thing is normal.

Hope this helps, please feel free to discuss further.

Regards
