Moderate right sided chest pain

Resolved question:
Mild/moderate chest pain in upper right side of chest. Mild cough and pain is worst on deep breaths. Saw doctor today and said my lungs sound clear and it might be a rib issue. Tonight however I have felt achy and warm but have no fever. I do have a history of anxiety issues that I take medication and do psychotherapy for. My anxiety is making me worry about pulmonary embolism. Would my doctor have heard something If i had an embolism? What else could cause this? A virus?

Hello,

Thank you for asking your query at DoctorSpring.

I would like to know some additional information from you so that I can provide my best and learned opinion.

1.Were you bedridden in the immediate past for any reason (due to Surgery . illness )
2. Do you have breathlessness. (Appreciable breathlessness, that has not occurred previously )
3.Is there any calf pain ?
4.Is the pain radiating to neck / arms ?
5. Is there any syncope / nausea / sweating ?

You can reply as a followup.
Thank you

Not bedridden in the past, no real breathlessness, no calf pain, the pain radiates slightly towards my right shoulder, no nausea sweating or syncope.

Hello,

Thank you for the additional information. The pain is NOT suggestive of Pulmonary Embolism or Cardiac chest pain. You need not worry about these conditions. This probably a plueritic pain / musculoskeletal pain. Simple rest and pain medications will help.

Hope this helps
