Muscle ache, joint pain with positive STREP test. Treatment.

Resolved question:
Hi there. I am 22 years old and have been healthy my whole life. I am a full time babysitter (nanny) which means I will almost always catch whatever the 3 kids I wAtch catch. About 2 months ago they all came down with strep throat. Their parents suggests I get tested too ( I was feeling a little under the weather but nothing major) my rapid strep test which they Said was about 85% accurate came back negative, and they didn't think I should pay the extra money for a culture because I had no fever and no sore throat. Just muscle pains and swollen neck glands. 2 moths later (the other day) I went back to the doctor because I simply just "didn't feel right" and my muscle aches turned into really bad joint pain all over. They decided to test me for strep again and it was indeed positive. This is my 4th day on amoxicillin and my joint and muscle pains have not subsided. Mainly in my legs and feet. Sometimes hands. I am very anxious and worried that this is something more severe. I am suppose to be taking these antibiotics for ten days I'm just worried they won't do the trick. What do you think?

Please, need some expert advice

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
To have glaucoma, three criteria's have to be fulfilled :
IOP >21 , abnormality in optic nerve head , & abnormal visual field , what your optician saw , is difficult to say.
Normally we never say a glaucoma suspicion if even one criteria is not abnormal.
With your optic nerve normal, it doesn't look like glaucoma to me.

The store at the mall said they were being "cautious" regarding narrow angles. Do those
angles seem bothersome to you, where I would need to get a goniscopy, etc? Many thanks!

Hello,
Observation of angles is a very subjective test, it can be very narrow for some one & just narrow to normal for me , so its difficult to comment.
A lot of people have congenitally narrow angles and still no glaucoma.
Till the optic nerve is fine, you should not worry.

So, it doesn't sound like you would be sending me for further tests, i.e. goniscopy. Is that correct? Thanks!

Hello,
No I will definitely not be asking you to get any further investigations.
You can get your IOP checked annually.
Regards.
