Numbness of entire body

Resolved question:
For about 3-4 days now I have been experiencing some numbness in both my feet, shins, hands and back of my arms and occasionally up the back of my neck and head on the left side. I find it it worse in the morning and during the night. I think it has something to do with how I am sleeping position-wise because I always wake up with back discomfort. Are these common symptoms of a pinched nerve? During the day I noticed it affects me more on my left foot, shin and arm.

Hello,

Thank you for asking your query at DoctorSpring.

I have discussed your concern with our team Neurologist. The symptoms are suggestive of a neuropathy, (which occurs in a pinched nerve). But distribution of the symptoms are NOT suggestive of a pinched nerve (It tends to be more localised in single nerve distribution area)

As of now your symptoms are non specific. By non specific I mean these do not point towards a single diagnosis. Unless you have disturbing symptoms (severe) and/or other neurological manifestations like weakness, unsteadiness, deviation of angle of mouth, clouding of memory, sever pain or visual disturbances, you can just observe the symptoms for couple of days. You can take a Vitamin B12 containing multivitamin and Ibuprofen OTC twice daily for the pain. Since the episode is short last it should resolve by its-own in a couple of days. If the symptoms are persisting and/or there are any of the above mentioned symptoms please get medical help.

Hope this helps
