Dear doctor, Last month I used condom as I was unable to get Nuvaring in time but currently I am using it.But when I used the new one on Sunday, it was my 1st day with it. Am I supposed to use condom again for the next month or am I safe? I hope I don’t risk the veneral diseases since I didn’t use one. What should I do to prevent myself?

Thanks for your question and concern,using nuvaring is a best way for protection but by stopping it means that you are restarting it and as it was the first time of yours. While using Nuvaring it is advisable to go through the instruction because if you follow them and use according to them then the chances of getting pregnant is less and protection is good.As different body has different hormones and can risk different levels ofveneral disease that is why it is advisable to get yourself diagnosed as early as possible. As if you use novaring and its insert is started then during the 5 days after the first day of your last menstrual cycle it is considered that you are protected form pregnancy after the use of one week.While you insert the Nuvaring on the first day then it is unnecessary to use any other way or anyother method to control birth.
