Hi Doctor,
I am suffering extremely from painful urination from some days. Plus I have got sores in the genital region that pain very much when touched. It has become even more painful with reckless itching all the time. I think it resembles with the pictures of herpes. Is it so? Please provide some curative measures for this ailment.

Thanks for your question, and it is very unfortunate to observe the pictures of herpes that you have sent. The infection called herpes is called by the herpes simplex virus, HSV. It is transferred through the physical contact with an infected person. Once the virus gets transferred in the body, it can infect the whole of the membranes including the nasal and mucous. The virus marks its presence with small red eruptions in the genital regions, which get the worse with painful urination and fatigue. The whole body gets the feeling of pain and itchiness. At times, even protected sex is pointless. It is better to make sure the partner is free from all such infections. If the infection is severe, then it is highly recommended to go for a urine test and a swab test. The daily dosage of painkillers and antiviral medicine can help a lot in easing the pain as well as they cut the growth of infection in the neighbouring organs. The other curative measures could be washing of the affected area with salt water at least twice a day. Drying up of the area and then applying some antiseptic cream can be done for faster recovery. The itchiness can be overcome with regular patting of the area with the ice bags or ice cubes at regular intervals of the day.
