Risk for BREAST, PANCREATIC CANCER because of family history.

Resolved question:
I am 60 years old Female.
We are totally 2 sisters and 5 brothers.
My elder sister is diagnosed of breast cancer and is undergoing treatment.
My elder brother passed away due to Pancreatic cancer.
Do I have a risk of breast cancer or pancreatic cancer or anything else?
What tests/check-ups should I undergo regularly to make sure I am healthy?

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
Yes, if one of your sister has breast carcinoma, there is a slight possibility of it being hereditary and you are susceptible.
You can undergo regular mammography or yearly once ultrasound breast for early diagnosis.
Pancreatic cancer does not have any biomarkers as such, but yearly ultrasound abdomen/ CT abdomen will be able to exclude any chances of pancreatic cancer.
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.

Dear Sir,
Thank you very much for your reply. I have a couple of questions.
You have suggested for regular mammography. How often do you mean sir?
Which foods do you suggest that reduce the risk of breast/pancreatic cancer?

Hello,
You can get mammography done annually.
Also, any fatty food and too much meat should be avoided, as they tend to increse the free estrogen levels in the blood.
Regards.
