Hi doctor; I am a resident of china and recently my wife and I have been diagnosed with HSV-2. She is not showing any symptoms of it and therefore I think she does not need a treatment from the IV medicine as she has been advised. Please enlighten me on this as I am also stressed that I have contracted herpes. I saw genital herpes pictures and did not like that stuff.

You look to be quite in stress but nevertheless you should concentrate on what you have to do. First of all if you and your wife have contacted an STD then whatever treatment you have been advised by your doctor should be implemented by you in all possibility. Your wife is not showing any symptoms of it but there is one thing that needs to be known that and that is 80 percent of men and women do not show symptoms of it, yet they have it. Therefore to stop the treatment on the grounds of absence of symptoms is not viable at all. These are caused during sexual activities and hence should not be neglected because if sexual activity is continued after this then it might develop into something uglier. Most of the STD’s are curable but they take time. In your case I think it will be cured but you have to go through all the tests and treatment properly. In the meantime you should avoid any kind of sexual intercourse or any type of intimate practice like kissing or oral sex because the mating of genitals might worsen the situation. The genital herpes pictures should not bother you much as these are pictures are taken of the worst cases in them. I don’t think that you and your wife have reached that condition so you should ignore the genital herpes pictures. My best wishes to you.
