Why my veins on arms and legs more visible?

Resolved question:
Doc, I am 37, Male. Since last few years (4-5 to be precise) I have notices by veins on legs and arms/hands are becoming more visible. These days its all veins over my hands and legs. Body fat % in those areas are shrinking badly. I am 6ft tall, always weigh between 72 to 74kg since last 10 years or so.

I could really feel that my hands/arms and legs are shrinking in size compared to old days. bone joints (at ankle, wrist, arms etc) snap often.

Any help?

Regards
Bip

Hello. Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I have read details of your question. It looks that according to your height, you have little fat and your weight is an ideal weight. Prominent veins can be due to increase physical work, decrease subcutaneous fat which Can be due to hormonal reason.
If possible you should first increase fat content on diet.Taking saturated fat for few days will help you.You may also have hormonal assay for you.
If any vein is too much prominent and annoy you cosmetically then there are methods like injecting sclerosing agents. This can be helpful for you.
Hope this all will help you.
Feel free to discuss further,

Sir, Thanks a lot for your kind reply. Honestly, I doubt its dues to increased physical work. I am a typical office goer and my physicaly activity is very limited. I've been noticing the gradual losing of body fat on my hands, arms, legs since last few years. Initially there were no veins visible on my legs and now its all bony/veiny. The skin on those areas look like ageing, with wrinkles all over. Please see attached pictures. Its worse than its coveyed there on mobile cam. Is it really advisable to take more fat in food? I had once my lipid profile 6 months back and results were on the border. I am not at all worried about the cosmetic part.I just feel that I am losing body fat on arms/hands and legs and the bones at those areas snaps(crackling sound) every time I get up/get down on chairs, or even when I move them. I just feel I am losing strength on those areas.Am I seeing some kind of accelarated ageing? Please help with a reasuring answer. To be honest,my confidence levels are being hurt! You have metioned about testing hormone levels. Could you please help me with the correct name of test to be done and what all should be looked at? thanks and best regards Bip

Yes,
It looks from pictures that veins are prominent, but it does not looks bad or abnormal. It does not look like you are ageing fast either. As long as you are physically fit, not falling ill often, then it means that you are healthy. Stress and anxiety can also lead to weight loss but you don't seem to have lost weight. So you should not be worried.
For your reassurance, you can get the hormonal assay for-
-Levels of homocysteine
-Testosterone levels
-Thyroid hormones
-Metabolic panel

Prominent veins in the lower limb could be due to varicose veins. You could get checked for presence of varicose veins from your surgeon.

Hope this was helpful to you.

With best wishes.
