Will FIBROIDS in UTERUS shrink after delivery?

Resolved question:
I got pregnant with my first child one and a half years old patientback..I didn't have any fibroids before that but during 3rd month of pregnancy i developed 2 fibroids..each 2 cm..then 5th month it grew further into 5 cm and 4cm each but no discomfort or pain was there..then placenta calcified and Doctor did cesarean when i was 8 months pregnant and I gave birth to a healthy child.

Then doctor said as delivery is over now..fibroid will shrink really small and almost disappear..and it wont bother me or my health and body in anyway..so she said its not a must to scan the uterus..so I never bothered to scan and I dont have pains or discomfort..I have normal painless menstrual cycle and flat stomach..has the fibroid shrunk ? will it cause any problem in future ? is it necessary to perform a scan to check it ?

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
Fibroids can have varied manifestations, and are hormonal. Some women have fibroids and they are absolutely asymptomatic, with fibroids just being an incidental finding.
Sometimes fibroids, are present for years, till they grow in size around menopause due to hormonal imbalance. So it is difficult to predict whether they will disappear completely or whether they will recur in the future.
However as of now, if you have normal periods and painless cycles, without any excess bleeding, then there is nothing to worry about. And you won't need a scan as of now.
Only if you have menorrhagia ( excess bleeding during cycles ), then you can go for the scan, and later based on the size, you can take a decision on whether it needs to be removed. During pregnancy, a lot of women develop fibroids, which does reduce spontaneously. So that may be the case for you too. But it really can't be predicted.
So i will suggest as of now, no scans or intervention is required. If you develop high bleeding, you can go for a scan.
Regards.
