Will heavy object injury on chest cause repeated yawning?

Resolved question:
I get periods of yawning even after being awake for hours. This started or I noticed it over 5 years old patientago
and seemed to have stopped. I am wondering if a fall I had where I may have bruised my rib area on the right side. There seemed to be a sore spot on my rib area which now has seemed to have gone away. This injury happened before the yawning started which was at least 5 years old patientago. The way the injury happened is sort of complicated to explain but involved a heavy object that was overhead. It had to be moved to the ground and it pulled me down on top of it. I am not sure how these 2 things can be related but I can not think of any other reason for the yawning. About the rib injury do you think that was anything to be concerned about?

Hello.
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com.

I understand that you are concerned and will do my best to help you out.

Yawning during periods of inactivity is normal, even when you have been awake for hours.
Only if the yawning is excessive, associated with abnormal daytime sleepiness and poor concentration, it is significant and needs evaluation.
Is any of these present in your case?

Any injury to the rib cannot be related to yawning.

The injury you have had is also nothing to worry about. An injury to the rib is a cause of concern when the ribs are broken or there is difficulty in breathing. I am sure you have not had those. Even if you did, you have made a complete recovery.

So please do not worry about it. If your daily routine is not very engaging, you can add in activities of your interest which are stimulating. This will take care of the yawning.

I hope this was helpful. Feel free to ask queries.

Regards.
