Can tablet LYRICA cause early onset ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE?

Resolved question:
I suffer from Chronic Migraines, Anxiety, Depression, OCD, and Fibromyalgia.
I have been on 150 mg of Lyrica since 02/2014. I have gained about 15 pounds and feel like I have early onset Alzheimer's.
On Monday, I stopped taking my bedtime dose of Lyrica. Tuesday and Wednesday, I have only taken 75mg in the morning.
I feel completely out of it. How do I get off of this medication?

Hello.
Thank you for posting your query on DoctorSpring.com.
I have noted your symptoms and the possible side effects of lyrica (pregabalin). You can taper the medicines slowly before stopping it. You can follow the schedule given below.
CAP Pregabalin 75 mg morning daily, 75 mg at night on alternate nights, for two weeks;
then, 75 mg only in mornings for two weeks;
then, 75 mg on alternate mornings for two weeks, then stop.
This would mean that you can come off pregabalin in six weeks time.
I hope this helps. Feel free to ask further queries.
Best wishes,
Dr. Sudhir Kumar MD (Medicine), DM (Neurology),
