Causes of shortness of breath with HPYLORI MEDICATION.

Resolved question:
in september 2014 i was given amoxicilin 1000mg, clarithromycin500mg , and omerprozole 40mg for hplori.. Wile i was taking those medication i was having shortness of breath for an hour or half an hour and it would go away. After i finish taking those medication 6 days latter i started to have shortness of breath in the evening. As days pass within a week my shortness of breath progress from morning untill i sleep. Its been over a month that i cant take full breath, it gets worse after a meal. 2 months before i started medication for hplori i had a chest x ray for chest pain, my lungs were fine there was just moderate pluminary hyperventilation...

What can cause the shortness of breath?

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
Can I know your smoking status?
It is not uncommon to have shortness of breath with hyper inflation of lungs in smokers.
What about your h pylori status?
Acid peptic disease, and associated abdominal blotting causes shortness of breath.
Panic attacks and functional problems also need to be excluded.
Kindly feel free to ask further questions. However I would like you to have a pulmonary function test and forward the same to me.

Yes i am smoker, i was smoking about 15 cigarete a day. Now i reduced to 3 cigarettes a day, after shortness of breath i stoped smoking for few days, but my shortness of breath remained the same.
I havent been retested for hplori, or have done any other test.
In the biggining of shortness of breath i went to the ER and there they done a bloot test, and my blood test came back normal
I dont think my shortness of breath is caused by panic attacks, because from the time i wake up untill i sleep i have shortness of breath, it never goes back to normal breathing.

Hello
,
Regards again.
The shortness of breath associated with smoking does not go away once smoking it's stopped. It will just be that it won't be aggravated anymore.. That it's called copd. However I expect the same only by about 45 years of age and not earlier. That may be why x rest showed hyperinflation.
I suggest to stop smoking, do a pulmonary function test and mild aerobic exercise according to your exercise capacity. Taking a pantoprazole and domperidone also might help you and you need not be taking h pylori treatment again.

The other causes of breathlessness are less likely according to your symptoms.
Feel free to discuss further,

Regards
