Thank you for your question, it is quite obliging. To tell you about you being infected by an STD there is one thing that your worry about your throat infection is quite obvious but the pain in your tonsils might be due to the swelling of it. As you told that both do all kinds of sex stuff then it means you are having the oral one too. Therefore first of all you are advised that should stop doing oral sex until the swelling and paining of the tonsils stops and it is cured properly. The tonsils are caused when strep bacteria enters the human body. It is a pathyogen and is not such a serious thing as proper treatment of it might eradicate it in a few days only. I think you are not having any STD because if you would have contracted it then there would have been a pain in your vagina or vulva. Also rashes would have appeared on your face and vaginal portion. Also mucus membrane would have developed on the vaginal lining and since all this is not happening it means that you are not infected by an STD. You have seen genital herpes pictures but you really don’t have to fear that much because you are showing no signs of herpes kind of stuff. So it is irrelevant really to talk about genital herpes pictures. Yours is a small problem and a timely treatment will end up your problems. I think your doubts are cleared now.
