HIV anxiety after protected intercourse with sex worker

Dear Doc

I m writing this mail from India,I had protected sex with a prostitute about 21 days ago.i donot feel that there was any transmission of fluids from my body to her and vice versa,Soon after i had sex with her i got afraid that i should not get affected by aids,The season here my is changing,i have gastric problem right from my childhood so i am getting mentally disturbed and i keep on thinking for it ,yesterday i had fever 99 f for half an hour and it automatically went back.As the season is changing so little sweating is coming sometimes in night(very little).So kindl tell can i be affected and how to keep my mind cool I have also lost 1.5 kgs in one month, i am regretting it very much

Hello,

Thank you for asking your query at DoctorSpring.

The symptoms you have mentioned is non specific and is not suggestive of HIV. Since you had protected sex you need not worry as there in nearly zero risk of HIV. You should relax and take your mind of this concern. Anyway I recommend an HIV test . (antibody based) atleast 5-6 weeks from the episode. The negative test will take the load off from your mind.
