How to skip the periods by birth control pill?

Good morning,

I have a question concerning my birth control pill. I use trinessa 28's and have heard there are some women who control their periods by not taking the hormonal pills and just continuing to take the hormonal ones. I was wondering if it is ok to start taking another pill pack today and skip the blank ones just for this month so that I will not have my period when I am on vacation in May.
