Jitters on socially demanding situations

Resolved question:
I have been suffering from jitters for 3 years now and due to these jitters I get very nervous and shaky in certain social situations like meeting my girlfriend's family for the first time or meeting her friends.

I first noticed the jitters 3 years ago and I believe the jitters started because I was taking very high levels of B-vitamins that were inside my multivitamin tablet at the time and now I have not been able to get rid of them even though all I take now is vitamin-C, fish-oil and flaxseed oil.

I read that low magnesium can cause jitters... so I have purchased some of these.. is there anything else that you would recommend to me..

Just so you know it is not a thing of confidence. Before these jitters occurred I was super confident and I still am (not to sound cocky).

I am at the level of going to pick up some beta blockers for when I have a tense social situation approaching but I don't want to have to rely on that for the rest of my life.

Hello,

Thank you for asking your query at DoctorSpring.

I assume that you are a healthy individual who is taking a normal Diet. So it is highly unlikely that you will have a nutritional deficiency (including Magnesium).

You might not like what I say here ! But it seems you might be having a Nongeneralized or circumscribed variant of Social Anxiety Disorder. This has nothing to do with your overall confidence. Many individuals including public speakers and politicians. This will require specific Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with or without medications. Beta blockers might not help.

I suggest getting an expert help.

Hope this helps
