Low BP in night with INDERAL for SINUS TACHYCARDIA.

Resolved question:
I have been recently prescribed Inderal for my sinus tachycardia. 10mg tablets twice daily.

I generally tend to monitor my BP for health reasons. I've noticed that before I go to bed, my BP last night was all the way down to 90/55 with 60BPM. I did not feel lightheaded/tired/unseasy, I was rather relaxed and ready to sleep but started to panic because I was worried it would fall even further while sleeping. Should I be concerned if my BP drops that low while on Inderal?

Hello
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com

As long as your heart rate doesn't fall to below 40 pm and you do not have any symptoms there is no cause for worry or panic. Beta blockers may reduce the exercise tolerability by preventing effective heart rate response on exercise. But you need not take any precautions for thw same. With time and training maybe you shall be able to achieve the previous effort levels. Right now you can begin exercising as usual and exercise to a limit where you cant further exercise. With time as the cardiac stroke volume compensates if at all it does then you may be able to achieve the previous levels. However beta blockers reduce both the rate and stroke volume. In such a situation ivabradine may be a better drug for sinus tachycardia as it doesn't reduce the stroke volume. Nevertheless be assured that even if you cant exercise to previous levels it is only a drug effect and not a problem with your physiology
