Thanks for your question and concern. Molluscum Contagiosum is a kind of skin lesion that appears in pearl like shape and color but it is a bit darker from the skin surrounding it. The skin lesion can get transferred through the different skin contacts that include the sexual intercourse as well and it can also be transmitted in swimming pools. The total time period that the virus causing MolluscumContagiosum needs to manifest the related symptoms and signs is about two weeks and can extend to around 3 months as well. The most important way through which this transmission can be avoided is by preventing the direct contact of the skin of one person with others. It can also be avoided by preventing yourself from coming in contact with some contaminated objects such as faucet handles or doorknobs and also by avoiding any kind of sexual contact with your partner who is affected with this lesion until the issue is resolved completely as it is one of the sexually transmitted diseases and gets transmitted from one person to the other very easily if proper precautions are not taken. Different types of treatments involving cryotherapy, Curettage and various other topical agents that are used for the genital or other warts can prove to be beneficial. I would suggest you to get your checkup done by your primary care physician regarding the differentsexually transmitted diseases to make sure that you are perfectly fine and don’t require any treatment. You can also visit your dermatologist if you want as per your wish and convenience. You can also call a helpline and discuss all your problems with the nurse available there to seek guidance and the next step that you should follow to avoid any kind of inconvenience. Good luck.
