Non-specific vaginitis

Resolved question:
I have been prescribed metronidazole for non-specific vaginitis. I am supposed to take 2000mg on the first day and third day. Today is the third day and I have developed a cold sore. I have taken 2000mg valacyclovir, as that is what I always take when such a thing happens. However, I still have to take my 2000mg metronidazole today and then another dosage of 2000mg valacyclovir in 12 hours. Is it okay to do this?

Hello,

Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring.

There are no reported adverse effects / interaction between Metronidazole and Valaciclovir

So Yes It is safe to take Metronidazole 2000 mg and Valaciclovir 2000mg together. But just space it at least 6 hours apart (so that you are not taking it at a single time time). Both can be taken with some food.

Hope this helps
