Pain in cut thumb with stiches.ADVIL.

Resolved question:
Badly cut my thumb six days ago, got seven stitches urgent care. The swelling is bad and the pain is horrible even though I am taking Advil. The pain gets worse when the swelling gets worse and bulges of white skin are along the stitches. I saw the doctor two days ago before the white bulges started and he said it wasn't infected but said the swelling is probably contributing to the pain. I feel like the stitches are way too tight but I don't know what to do. Pain is horrible, burning and constant. Plus I have another seven days until I'm supposed to get the stitches out, isn't the skin just going to get even thicker by then?

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I got the image that you sent and it does look like the stitches are tight and that is leading to a localized edema, around the stitch area. It looks white since because of the stitches, the blood circulation is getting hampered and the area is turning white. It's definitely not infected and that is an encouraging sign. There is just localised edema, and that will subside once the stitches are taken off.
Please consult with the doctor who put the stitches. He can take one or two off and it will become loose.
Once the pressure is removed, then the bulges will come down.
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.
