Thank you for asking your query at DoctorSpring.
It sounds like you have dry itchy skin, or pruritis related to thyroid
illness. You may benefit from taking thyroid pills everyday if you
are not already doing so. Taking a daily levothyroxine pill can
adjust your hormone levels and relieve the itching. In most cases,
treatment of underlying thyroid illness can cure symptoms. If you
are not finding relief and you are not satisfied with the creams,
then you may talk to your physician about ultraviolet light therapy.
This involves multiple treatments of applying wavelengths of light
that can clear up your skin. Other options are antihistamines and
cholestyramine which is a bile acid sequestrant which can relieve
symptoms of pruritis as well. Talk to your local physician about
these options and in the meantime here are some precautions you can
take at home:
milds soaps and moisturizers on your skin
irritants to your skin that increase itching
clean cool cloths for temporary relief
care and good luck.

You are welcome, and thanks for your question.
Betamethasone creams although tempting, should not be overused. It is great for temporary relief, but after chronic use it can damage your skin, or cause acne.
Use them for now, but it in the meantime continue to fine tune a more long term solution as there are other options available to you.
Take care and be well.
