Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
The ideal treatment for your husband is removal of urinary bladder along with urinary diversion. The diversion can be ileal conduit or neobladder.
Neobladder is safe in high grade bladder cancer as long as the urethral margin doesn't have cancer.
Dr Goel, Urologist
In view of your query, i have also requested Oncologist to give his expert advice on your query. So Kindly see what our oncologist has to say :
'Surgery is the best modality in case of recurrence in bladder cancer. The procedure which is usually performed in such case is called radical cystectomy wherein the bladder is surgically removed and pouch replaced by another organ to hold urine, routinely with colon.'
You could meet with your surgical oncologist / urologist for discussing more about the surgery and its benefit.
Hope this helps, would be glad to discuss further.
