Pain in head and ears, light nasal discharge, cold

Resolved question:
I am 37 years old male, generally very healthy and fit with no history of any disease.I have been suffering from cold (cough and mucous) from last 30-40 days. Recently my cold has improved a lot, just very rare coughing (once in a day) and very little nasal discharge. I have not taken any medicine in last 30-40 days. About a week ago, I boarded 2 hour flight two times and each time during landing I had very-very severe pain in head especially near my ears. But both times the pain lasted for about 3 minutes and everything was normal.Last couple of days I am noticing I have constant headache near my eyebrows through out the day, while there is no coughing but very little discharge of green fluid from my nose. My temperature during evening is around 98.4.I suspect sinus kind of thing, please advise the remedy.

Thank you for asking your query.

It seems you are having an acute sinusitis involving your frontal sinus. Sinusitis can result in almost all the symptoms you have described in your query. Infection in the sinus can cause pressure build up and consequently pain and discomfort.

The frontal sinus opens to the nose through a connection. In case of sinusitis this connection may be blocked due to congestion. The first step in treatment of sinusitis is to open up. You can do the following measures.

1. Apply warmth over the forehead , above the eyebrows
2. Steam inhalation through nose twice daily
3. Nasal decongesensts like Octrivin nasal drops 2-3 drops twice daily in each nostril for a week.

You can follow this recommendation for 4-6 days. If the pain still persists you may need antibiotics and you may need to consult and ENT Surgeon.
Hope this helps
Thank you
