Pain in stomach, under ribs reduces after vomiting.

Resolved question:
Severe pain in stomach. I have attacks 1 every 3 months.
All over stomach area. Pain sometimes comes up into my chest. Pain under ribs, and pain goes to the shoulder blade area.
Feels like I need to go to restroom too.
Most attacks last about 25 minutes one time it lasted 10 hours. Woke me up in the middle of the night a couple times.
Feels like labor contractions or a heart attack. When the attacks happen there's nothing I can do to stop the pain , but the last time I did this. I was hurting so bad one night. The pain was so severe that my body was trying to find relief. I made myself throw up. I was not sick to my stomach. I threw up because of the severity of the pain. When I did throw up my pain was completely gone as my head was coming up out of the trash can. My pain immediately left me. Nothing I eat bothers me but sometimes I wonder if the coffee I'm drinking if its hurting me.

Hello.
Thanks for posting your query on DoctorSpring.com.

I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

After going through your posts, the possibilities are limited to two conditions -
1. Cholecystitis - which is inflammation of the gallbladder. Cholecystitis pain is referred to the shoulder blade area.
2. Gastric or intestinal obstruction or acid peptic disease - In case of obstruction, you will get relief with vomiting.

I would advice you to undergo the following tests to rule out the above mentioned conditions.
1. An upper GI endoscopy to look for gastric outlet obstruction and acid peptic disease
2. CT scan of the abdomen - To look for gallbladder disease and intestinal obstruction.

You can discuss with your doctor about these possibilities and get the above mentioned tests done.

I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr.R.K.
