Photo epilation treatment for genital herpes Infection

Resolved question:

Dear doctor, I am a 24 years old female with normal BMI and build up. I got affected with genital herpes and got its first outbreak about 4-5 years ago. Then I started having Photo epilation treatment for that, from last February, without considering my conditions. But I had to stop it by May, as I started going to beach on a regular basis. Now, I had got the next outbreak of herpes, which is the second time after getting affected. So, I would like to know whether I should go on with photo epilation treatment or not. Please enlighten me on this. Thanks for your valuable advice.

Thanks for your question and concern about treating herpes. As you know, photo epilation treatment is done to remove unwanted hair in body. It is done by passing intense light to hair follicles It is usually contraindicated in chronic and active herpes too. So, pre treatment of it, with anti-retroviral medications should be done a day before doing photo epilation and can be continued for about six or seven days. Hope that I have cleared your doubt. Take care.
