Question on Muscle Contractions

Resolved question:
Dear Doctor,

I have been having muscle contractions all over my body for the past four days. They are present all day, but are worst at night when I'm sleeping, to the point that it is difficult to get a good night's sleep. I went to the ER 3 days ago, and it was treated as an anxiety issue, as I have had anxiety issues in the past. However, it is not getting any better at all, and I am scared that I am dealing with a neurological issue here. Do you have any advice about what this is or what I should do next?

Thank you.

3.Is there pain associated with it ?
4.Is there contractions in the face too ?

Hello Doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

1) Contractions are not visible. Feels like they're just below the surface of the skin.
2) no fever or stool issues
3) no pain, just discomfort with the fact that it feels like I am vibrating. But it isn't painful.
4) contractions of neck and shoulder, but not face.

Thank you.

Hello,

Thank you for the clarification.

As per your description, the symptoms does not seem to fit into any kind of a neurological disease. Muscle spasms / contractions due to Neurological disease tend to occur localized or in a group of muscles. The condition you are having is non-specific muscle spasm and the causes can be electrolyte imbalance (like low potassium), hyperventilation (over breathing due to anxiety),or anxiety. And certain cases the cause is unknown. The good news is that you need not be worried about the symptoms unless they persist for long.

If you are still experiencing the symptom I would recommend you to meet a Physician - Internal Medicine Specialist . He will make referrals it its necessary.

Hope this helps.
