Rectal discharge

Resolved question:
I have a rectal discharge. I comes out attached to my stool. It is white like pus or fungus I'm not sure. I feel like I need a bowel movement constantly even after I have one. I also have a persistent ache in my rectum. This has been going on for about a week. Can you please advise what this is and how to treat it.

Thank you for the reply

The white discharge is suggestive of an infection (possibly a sexually transmitted one) . The most likely cause is Candida (fugal) infection. However this needs to be confirmed by a direct examination and some blood tests. Candida infections sometimes occur in individuals with depressed immunity. So it is better to get a baseline blood evaluation.

I would recommend a Physical examination, Per rectal examination by your GP, Fasting Blood Sugar, Complete Blood count, HIV test , STD test panel.

Even if the symptoms regress it is better to get evaluated. Meanwhile take a high fibre diet. If cadidiasis is confirmed you will require an oral anti fungal medication like fluconazole. Do keep me posted. I will keep this consult so that you can get back to me at any time

Thank you
