Swelling in face with MRSA even on BACTERIM.

Resolved question:
I was diagnosed with MRSA on the right side of my face . It entered thru a small pimple just under my right nostril and has been swelling since Tuesday. A culture was done and Bactrim was prescribed as the bacteria was sensitive to it. I have had 3 doses only so far but my face is continuing to swell. Nearly up to my eye and my whole cheek.
I am getting very concerned.
Do I just need to give it more time or is it time for an ER visit? It is quite painful and we have 3 small children.

Hello,
Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring, com
I understand your concern
Redness and continued swelling and pain suggest ongoing inflammation due to the infection. It might be possible that the infection did not respond to the antibiotic.
The drainage of pus and reconfirmation of antibiotic sensitivity is warranted.
Please visit ER before it gets worse.
Please also get your blood sugars done.
Thanks

Even if I have only taken 3 pills?

Hello,
Thanks for getting back.
If there was a response to antibiotic swelling/ pain/ redness should have been subsided by now but is has increased as you said.
So, In my opinion it is good to visit a physician. If there is pus it needs to be drained.
Thanks
