Traumatic Fat necrosis.

Resolved question:
Out of the blue, the day before yesterday, I noticed bloodstains on the inside of my bra. They were very light. I checked my left breast and noticed brownish discharge coming from the nipple. I showered and in the shower, there was more discharge. Red. I am about to get my period in a couple of days. I'm 33 and in good health, or so I thought. No allergies, no medications, no smoking, no alcohol. I am concerned about the bloody, brownish discharge from my left nipple. Breasts are currently tender because of my cycle. My friend's toddler was roughhousing with me three nights ago and kicked me in left breast. The next day it itched and I rubbed it to relieve the itch and I felt sharp pain. I also had an abnormal mammogram about a year ago due to a large mass in that breast, but it turned out to be benign fibrocystic tissue i believe it is called. I nursed my daughter and they believe it may related to the ducts. What could this be? How can I tell if it is possibly cancer? Thank you.

Hello
Thanks for writing to us at DoctorSpring.com with your health concern.
The reddish discharge and the history of trauma to the breast suggest a breast haematoma / traumatic fat necrosis.
This is due to injury to the breast tissue , leading to collection of blood inside.
I would advise you to immediately see your doctor and get examined.
Warm compresses / antibiotics / tight bandaging maybe required.
It is less likely to be cancer. But cancer can be ruled out by clinical examination in conjunction with an ultrasound / mammogram.
All the best
Please feel free to discuss any further queries.
Thankyou
