Treament for hearing loss, high BLOOD PRESSURE.

Resolved question:
My friend, who is a 71 year old male with untreated high blood press(usually 165/120) and hearing loss (he uses a radio shack amplifier with headphones), recently had cold symptoms (a week ago). Also, he drinks about 3-4 six packs over the course of the day.

Now he cannot hear at all and his blood pressure is 210/125. He is having some trouble balancing when he walks.

I am trying to get him to see a doctor but it is an uphill battle.

We use a home OMRON digital BP monitor for the BP reading: i used myself as a control and accuracy checked out compared to a recent reading at a doctor's office.

What do you think the sudden hearing loss and loss of balance indicates?
He does not seem rational about his situation, how can I convince him?

Hello,
Though the sudden loss of hearing and loss of balance is not directly related to his severe hypertension. it could be an indicator of a transient ischemic attack and he needs immediate medical attention.
Also, a CT SCAN of the brain is important to rule out any neurological deficit.
Regards.
