If an adenoma was found during colonoscopy and the dr said I have nothing to worry about .Why would it not be removed but he wants to remove it in 3 months .Says benign

1. How old are you?
2. Is there a family history of colon cancer?
3. Where in colon was the polyp found?
4. Was a full length colonoscopy done?
5. How big was the polyp?
6. Was it a sessile polyp or a pedunculated polyp?
7. Was it a tubular adenoma or a villous adenoma?

Follow up , I am a 49 year old female with my dad getting colon cancer at 69.
my colonoscopy was a full length and thorough one .
i had a 12 mm single pedunculated polyp in the distal sigmoid colon which was taken off by a hot snare.
After polypectomy, this adenoma was left .The polyp was benign but wondering why this adenoma was not removed as we'll .He will remove it in 3 months and then colonoscopies every 3 years .

Adenoma is a histological diagnosis.
I would like to know whether the adenoma you have mentioned was diagnosed from biopsy taken from a lesion other than the polyp or from the polyp only?

I know the biopsy was taken from the polyp where the adenoma raised from .That being benign and dr says I have nothing to worry about .Will remove it in 3 months

Though it is benign, it has the potential to become malignant later. You also have family history of colon cancer. So regular follow up is very important.
As far as this adenomatous pedunculated polyp is concerned it can be removed anytime.
However, you have mentioned the polyp has been removed already with a snare. So I am not sure what is still left to be removed. Please make sure when the doctor said polyp and adenoma, he didn't mean the same thing.
If there is something, perhaps a remnant of the polyp in the intestinal wall, It will not be as easily removable as a polyp. So your doctor might have postponed it to have a planned procedure later on and this is nothing to worry about.
You can discuss with your doctor about what is still left that he said he will remove after 3 months. If anything is still left and causing you undue anxiety, you can ask him to remove it at the earliest.
