Treatment for STRESS RELATED ECZEMA in buttock.

Resolved question:
Hi,

I get what I have been told is stress related eczema breakouts on one area on my right buttock. It usually is exacerbated by things like steam rooms and if I drink a lot (I generally don't drink much at all) it gets even more severe. It is localized to mostly one area and itches like crazyyyy. I have a steroid cream that i use when it gets bad but it doesn't seem to be getting better. The problem is I travel for work and am never in town during the week to actually go see my doctor. I am uploading a picture and I would like to know what your thoughts are on what else this might be?

Hello

Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com

I can understand your concern.

This seems to be shingles or herpes zoster as we refer to it. It's caused by varicella zoster virus which lives in the nerve roots and is activated in times of stress.

The treatment would be to take oral anti viral medication called valacyclovir in order to suppress the occurrence. You can apply mupirocin cream twice a day for a week.

You will need a prescription for the medications.

Please let me know if you have any queries.

Regards.
