Vomiting, fatigue, frequent bowel movements after RAW OYSTERS.

Resolved question:
Hello, goodnight. I'm a 3rd year medical student who consumed raw oysters two Fridays ago. By Sunday, I was experiencing severe vomiting, horrible fatigue & frequent bowel movements. My provisional diagnosis was Hep A. Still waiting blood work results but have pale, clay colored stool as well. This week, I began to feel normal once more & symptoms were non existant. I had 3 glasses of wine last night & I can't sleep. I've also vomited twice. Can you please assist me? Thank you

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
There are couple of possibilities here:
1) It could be an acute gastroenteritis, and the infection has not resolved till now.
2) It can be hep a/ e, both are possible.
The Hep A can only be diagnosed from the reports.
Prophylactically, you should take an antibiotic course like Tab. Ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice daily for 5 days, in case it is due to a bacterial infection, it will resolve on taking the first couple of doses. You can take Tab. Ondansetron SOS ( to control vomiting ) and Loperamide SOS ( for increased BM ).
Kindly wait for the results and share it with me once they are ready.
Regards.
