Weird stomach pains

Resolved question:
I have been having weird stomach pains for a month and a half now. It all started with what felt like heartburn. It lasted a week. Then went away and then had an epigastric region pain that felt like something was stuck there. I also had heartburn and nausea along with fatigue and shortness of breath. That lasted for two weeks. I have had pregnancy tests, blood test and nothing much wrong. They found I had a UTI but CBC came back normal except for really high b12, but no anemia. Now I just feel heartburn, nausea, bad stomach aches, and what seem to be pelvic pain. I am also very bloated, ive gain stomach fat and i eat very healthy and exercise. My pants just suddenly don;t fit and it hurts when anything is again my stomach. What could this be?

Hello,

Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring.

I have gone through your concerns. There are two striking symptom patter - The upper stomach (GI) symptoms and the symptoms of the UTI. Most likely you are having a GERD with acid peptic disease which is causing the nausea, epigastric pain, fullness etc.

Second one is the UTI - which could be causing the pelvic. Both can be easily treated and should be treated.

I would like to know whether you are on any medication for these (like antibiotics / anti ulcer medications etc). If so please let me know the details. You can reply as a followup.

Thank you

Thank you for responding. I am taking pantoprazole 40mg for the acid I guess and sulfameth/trimethoprim twice a day for seven days. It just concerns me because everything I wear feels so tight, and causes pain. I guess I'm really bloated or have gained the weight? I know something is off. Ovarian cancer concerns me just because symptoms seem similar. I can't even exercise like I use to. Stomach ache everyday from morning to night. Thank you for your advice.

Thank you.

Well, I would recommend continuing Pantoprazole. Make sure you are taking it without food, on empty stomach. Avoid spicy and irritant food. Give it a try for 4-5 days. If this is not making you feel better you can get a couple of tests done to know what is making you feel bloated up.

It is unlikely to be related to ovary. More possible causes are water conservation (odema) from Kidneys or Heart. A hypo-functioning Thyroid can also cause these symptoms.

You can get a Urine Protein levels, a Cardiac Physical examination, Ultrasound Abdomen and a Thyroid Function test (if not done recently) . This will rule of the major possibilities for the symptoms. Since you had UTI drink plenty of water. And again do continue Pantoprazole.

Hope this helps

Ok, thank you. Well urine tests were fine. It's just so uncomfortable. Could it be anything that needs to be removed? It just weird how anything against my stomach causes pain and everything now fits tight. Thank you for your help doctor. Have a Merry Christmas.

Hello,

It is less likely to be 'something that has to be removed', even though we cannot say for sure. If all the above mentioned tests are negative and if you still have symptoms you can go for a Ultrasound study. This will look into your abdomen, pelvis including organs like liver and ovary.

Thank you
