This is surely a wart. Its a viral infection and needs to be treated as it can be sexually transmitted.
I would recommend an application of Aldara cream on it. It needs a prescription from your doctor.

Unfortunately, viral infections once acquired can't be treated.
It can't be predicted whether you will get another such wart in future.
But if you start the treatment with Aldara early, chances of recurrence are much lesser.
