What to do for pain on the side of the penis after rough sex?

Resolved question:
I had rough sex a week ago and the next morning I had pain on the side of my penis. A new small blue vein appeared and the skin around the vein hurts to touch. It's not excruciating but still tender. There's no bruising and no problem getting an erection or going to the bathroom but the skin on the area is just tender. What should I do? I don't have insurance and I'm kinda embarrased to go to the clinic with this issue...does ice or heat or just rest help?

Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring.com.

Dear sir,

You have obviously suffered from trauma during sex. The good news is that they you are already on the recovery path. You don't need to do anything. You should avoid intercourse till your pain settles and it will heal by itself in a few more days.

Take care.

Feel free to ask queries.

So I don't need to ice the area? Heat the area? Take ib proferin? I have been taking ib proferine...should I stop? Is there anything I should be avoiding? And approximately how long do these things take to heal up?

Expert:  Dr. Rajiv Goel replied 3 Days.

Dear Sir,

There is no need to apply ice or do hot fomentation. You can take Ibuprofen if you have severe pain, otherwise you can stop it now.

The complete healing process takes a maximum period of 2-3 weeks but in your case since you are already on the recovery route, it might be faster. It is best that you refrain from intercourse for additional 2 weeks, for a faster recovery.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.

Could u tell me how long before I seek some medical attention? If the skin over the vein still hurts after a few weeks etc??? I can't have sex or masterbate for that long??? This is a frustrating injury

Thanks for writing to us again.

You should seek medical attention after 4 weeks, it it doesn't subside by then. You shall be in position to have normal sexual life in 4 weeks. Till then please avoid sex/masturbation. It can lead to more injuries.

Don't despair.

Take care.

Patient replied :

Hi Dr, it's me again...So i thought the injury was done and my "penis-vein-area" was healed...i had sex with my girlfriend several times and the pain slowly returned. It just is a weird stinging to the touch over part of the vein. I truly thought the injury was over so i guess i was wrong...is it back to ground zero again? no sex/masterbation for another 4 weeks? I didn't go that long before...probably just under 3 weeks and the pain was nearly non exsitent...
So I'm assuming another 4 weeks of rest to the injured area and if it doesn't subside go to a doctor? Thanks again...

Expert:  Dr. Rajiv Goel replied 1 Day.

Hello. Thanks for writing to us again.
As i advised to you before, you need to avoid any kind of sexual activity and masturbation for the next 4 weeks. Please follow this, because there is a risk of further damaging your penis. Let it heal.
Feel free to discuss further,
Take care.
