Please type your questions here. You can choose the specialty and upload reports in next step....Middle to right side of my tongue hurts in my throat and right ear pain. Hurts more when I swallow. Took aleve, then tried ibuprofen. Doesn't really help.Went to dr. She said my throat is not red or swollen and sent me home. Feels swollen to me. Few weeks ago had chest/nasal infection and sore throat. Had to take zpack, then prednisone and amoxicillin to feel better. Felt better for a few days, then sore throat very mild would come and go. The past three days its here to stay and very painful, but feels more like the tongue than the throat. Please help!!

Hello,
Thank you for asking the query.

It seems like you are having a Eustachian tube (ET) dysfunction in right side. ET is a small tube that connects your nose to your ear. After a cold or sore throat it can get inflamed. And it can lead on the pain which feels like toungue pain or jaw pain.(That's why your Doctor did not see anything there.

You can try these recommendations :

1. Try to get air to flow into the Eustachian tube

Air is more likely to flow in and out of the Eustachian tube if you swallow, yawn or chew. Also, try doing the following. Take a breath in. Then, try to breathe out gently with your mouth closed and pinching your nose (the Valsalva manoeuvre). In this way, no air is blown out but you are gently pushing air into the Eustachian tube. If you do this you may feel your ears go 'pop' as air is forced into the middle ear. This sometimes eases the problem

2. Steam Inhalation twice a day with open mouth.

3. Decongestant Nasal sprays in consult with your Doctor.

4. Pain meds as and when needed.

You should see a response in 2-4 days.

Hope this helps. Thank you.
