Genital warts at 40

Resolved question:

Dear doctor, Sorry for taking your time. But I was diagnosed recently to have genital warts in a pap test done recently. But I haven’t had sex with anyone else than my present partner, for the last 6 or 7 years. Is there anything I should suspect? I am 40 years old and normally healthy, except with this condition. What can I do now? Thank you.

Actually there is no need of getting worried for having HPV infection. HPV or Human Papilloma Virus causes genital warts and usually, more than 50% of infections decent by its own. Unfortunately, there is no complete cure for the disease. Treatments are according to symptoms if any. There are a range of treatments available, from surgical excision to application of creams. But it is peculiar to have genital warts at your age. It might be an ailment related to an underlying situation like syphilis. If it is so, treatment and management is different. So, it is better to approach a doctor for further conclusions. Take care.
