Can LEUKEMIA/LIVER DISEASE cause HIGH VIT B12 LEVEL?

Just had blood work done. My B12 was 670 pmol/L (907ng/L). The CBC and liver test (alt,alp) were all well within range. Was taking 1000mcg of b12 on/off for the last 2 years, but consistently for the last 2 months. I feel ok. I read that high b12 can be caused by leukemias/ liver disease, but again my other blood work is fine. Also read that supplements can not raise blood b12 levels that much. My level 2 years ago, before I started supplement was 360pmol/L. Should I be worried.

Hello,

Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring. Your B12 levels are 670 pmol/L which is well within normal limits. It is true that supplements will not case Vitamin B12 levels to a toxicity level, but it sure can increase the level from 300s to 600s. As long as it stays within normal limits and you do not have any symptom you need not worry.

Your CBC and LFT are normal. So there is no reason to be worried. If you take regular non vegetarian diet (assuming that you do not have significant medical illness) you can discontinue the supplement.
