Large, throbbing lump in thigh, unable to walk. Treatment?

Resolved question:
I'm an 18 year old male. As of right now, I have a large, throbbing, fist-sized lump on the area between my upper thigh and buttock. This is not the first one of these that I've had, but this is the most painful, and the largest. I can hardly walk due to the pain. I want to go to the doctor and get help, but just looking at it myself makes me physically sick to my stomach. I couldn't imagine making someone else go near it. The only reason I'm asking now is because the anonymity of the Internet makes me feel less anxious. I would really appreciate some answers as soon as possible because I'm worried about how this is affecting my entire leg.

Hello,
Thank you for your medical query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
This is an abscess and it needs to be drained. You can try with oral antibiotics but if the pain worsens or the swelling gets bigger, there is no other option. The antibiotic that works well in such cases is Cefotaxime 200 mg twice daily. Apart from that local application of Mupirocin ointment will also be helpful. I can understand your apprehensions but getting medical help is required in this case.
Hope this was helpful,
Regards.
