Hello,

Thank you for using Ask a Specialist Doctor Service from Doctor Spring.

I can understand your problem, and will try to help you the best possible

One sided throat pain without fever and difficulty in swallowing of liquid and solid, usually not caused by infection.

Most likely your problem is Elongated styloid process (styalgia). This is not a serious problem. We can conform this by doing X- ray styloid process, once we conform we can start medication for same. [Tab. Carbamazepine (Tegrital) 100mg two times for 10 days]. Please not we do not offer prescription. So please take this medicine in consult with your Doctor.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.

Thank you.

Can u please tell me what is this problem exactly. I had this throat discomfort since 2 years and that time I didn't have pain instead it was a stuck up feeling which was coming and going. But now from 2 weeks I have same pain consistently. Am worried as is there anything seriously wrong with my throat as some tumour kind. ??? Am very scared. Do this pain got any relation with my previous throat discomfort which was also at right side of my throat. Kindly let me know.

Hello,

The chance of a tumor is less likely. Since the pain duration is 2 weeks (significant pain) , the most possible causes are inflammation and stylalgia. Since you had antibiotics I recommend steam inhalation twice daily for 5 days . Also take an anti allergy medication like cetirizine twice daily. This will reduce the inflammation and can help in stylalgia also.

If only the pain is still persisting, you will might need further evaluation. tumour in throat present as difficulty in swallowing or voice change (not throat pain), still if you want to be 100 % sure, you can consult an ENT doctor , who can examine your throat with camera (endoscopy) directly.

Again to conclude the features are not likely to be tumor. You need to consider tumor only if symptoms persist.

Hope this helps.
Thank you
