Hello.
Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
HbQ India type variant is a very rare disease trait in thalessemia discovered recently. There are very few reports about passage of trait to off springs. Not much in known about this variant right now. I hope we may need to do some blood tests in the developing foetus to find out if the Anomaly is exhibited by the developing baby too.
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.

Hi Doctor! Is this disease curable? Is there anything to worry about?

Hello.

Usually Thalassemia presents as anemia (low hemoglobin) and treatment depends on the grade of anemia. If you are without any symptoms, hopefully you do not have to worry about it.

Kindly let me know the complete analysis of your reports. If you can, please upload all of them in the follow-up.

Regards.

And now since I am pregnanat, I sometimes feel breathlessness. Not sure if that is due to gastic or anaemia as these days my digestion is also not good

Hello.
I went thro your reports. Your HB is 11.7 gm suggestive of mild anaemia. I hope this may not be clinically significant and may not cause you much problems after pregnancy. During pregnancy, there can be a mild drop in HB but may or may not not cause any problem, but based on how much is the decline.
You can meet a geneticist if possible and discuss on the foetal transmission. Howeve it may be minimal or nil. A comprehensive work up for the baby may be needed.
Hope this was helpful,
Regards.
