BIOGRAPHY

Rockford Health System welcomes Benjamin Mathew, M.D., FRCS (C), who specializes in General & Pediatric Ophthalmology.

After graduating from the University of Manitoba in Winnepeg, he completed residencies in ophthalmology at LSU Eye Center/Alton Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans and the University of Ottawa Eye Institute in Ontario, where he was the senior resident. Dr. Mathew also completed fellowships in pediatric ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and Smith Kettlewell Eye Research Institute in San Francisco. He is board certified in ophthalmology.

He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Mathew is Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. His research interests include ophthalmic optics and automated measurement of strabismus.
