Hi I have been suffering from cold sores for the past 6 years. Up until a year or so ago I would only get one a few times a year when I got stressed etc. In the past 6 months I have been getting almost 2 month, I dont know whats happened. I dont have any other medical conditions and have been taking Lysine tablets in an attempt to control them. I went to the doctor on Monday who has requested I undergo a blood test to check whats going on with my immune system, she mentioned possible anemia and also mentioned blood sugar. Does this mean I could be diabetic as now I am completely paranoid and really dont want to have any tests done. How could diabetes be related to cold sores? Ive got no other symptoms of diabetes at all. Please can you explain what my immune system has got to do with all of this?

I have also been taking Acyclovir for the past 12 months, but I havent taken it at the right dosages or taken it consistently. My GP said I could be put onto a high dosage of this to take indefintely to try and control the amount of outbreaks I get. This is all I want to be given I dont want to have to go on all different medications, Please help me
