Risk of HSV 2 with ANTIBODIES test.

Resolved Question:

I'm interested in a lady who is positive for type 2 herpes. I had symptoms in my 20s, but nothing for 30+ years; same for my partners. My recent blood test for HSV-2 antibodies checks 13.5. Are there any risk factors for me with her or other partners with me?

I understand your concern.
I will request you to kindly upload your reports since the reference ranges cn vary across laboratories all over the world.
HSV-2 is genital herpes, and a lot of people are asymptomatic and manifest very few outbreaks. If she is active HSV-2 currently with an outbreak, then she can trigger your outbreak too. However if she has no active lesion right now, then it's not going to cause any difference since you have been exposed to the virus before. For other partners, yes they will be at risk if you develop an outbreak, since they may not be exposed to the virus before and the disease can be transmitted. Even though the risk is small, but still even without outbreaks herpes can be transmitted to the non infected partner.

Kindly upload your HSV-2 report and then i can guide you further.

Thank you for you report.
It does show high levels of IgG antibodies to both HSV-1 and 2, which indicates you were exposed to both the strains and had infection in the past. And with those values, it is possible to infect other partners, even in absence of other symptoms, but chances are low considering for the last 30 years old patientyou had not had an outbreak yourself.
You have to ensure that she has no active outbreak, and if she does not there is no risk between the both of you. But other partners not exposed to virus before, may contract the disease even though chances are low.
