Intermittently occurring Staph Infection or Genital herpes?

Resolved Question:

Hello doctor, I am 25 years old. I am sexually active with my only fiancée. My problem is that I feel like suffering from something I suspect genital herpes. I am having hard and bubble shaped blisters in my bikini line. Once before I had them and I consulted my doctor regarding that. He told that it is caused by staph infection and suggested that I might have received it from my sex partner, as I told earlier, my fiancée. He also have this and when it comes, I breaks the blister and a colorless liquid comes out. It is an itchy liquid. It matures in 2-3 days after the coming up of blister. Once it is broken, it will turn to scabs and go away overtime. Is my doctor right in diagnosing the situation? I fear it is due to herpes and not staph infection. For my fiancée, it occurred in his thigh at first and later started appearing in his testicle. But for me, it is appearing and re-appearing in the same place itself. Please help me to get rid of them. Thanks.

I can understand your question and query about your unfortunate situation. From your description, it seem like you have genital herpes and not staph infection. Let me explain some points about herpes. It is caused by Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV). It is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections. It is of two types- HSV type 1 and HSV type 2. Of these, the type 1 HSV infects and affects mouth, lips and facial parts. HSV 2 infection is what causes genital herpes. It affects genital areas with similar symptoms as you said. It can be spread easily when one comes in skin to skin contact with an affected person. Chance of getting affected increases when the affected person has got sores, blisters etc. You can go for a blood test to find antibody levels in your blood. Infection is identified by the presence of antibodies produces by body, in blood. However, there is no complete cure for genital herpes. But you can have an antiviral medication which helps in relieving pain and suppress outbreak of infection. Medicines like acyclovir, famciclovir, valacyclovir etc. are used to treat infectious situations. They can help in healing wounds caused by the outbreak. It is advised to wear clean, loose clothes while having herpes and while undergoing treatment. Also, you should clean the affected areas using soap and water. Hope this clears your doubts. Take care.
