Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
So you've had this bruise since 2 weeks which came 5 days after you had a minor car accident. At the time of the accident do you remember if the leg had trauma? If the bruise appeared after the accident, and in the meanwhile you didn't go camping (or anywhere where there is a possibility of a tick bite) then the bruise probably appeared because of the accident. In which case, it is normal for a bruise to change color from an inital blue black to an eventual yellow, this may take time. Following the accident did you have any trouble walking with this leg or pain otherwise during the day? Have you needed to take any pain medication?
I would advise you to visit the doctor in the event of the following:
If you have frequently noticed bruises on your body which have appeared without reason or minor trauma
If you are having bleeding from elsewhere like your nose, gums, urine or stool.
If you have a family history of memebers who bruise easily.
Hope this helps

Patient replied :

Hello, there was zero leg trauma at all, only the soft tissue damage to my neck, and no lower body pain what so ever, I work as a flight attendant so rarely get outside of cities or hotels. The white spot in the middle has a hard lump.

Hello,
Thank you for the follow up.
From the image that you have sent, I can see the bruise but cannot appreciate the lump. So I would advise that you use ice packs many times a day and see whether the hard lump / swelling reduces.
If the condition persists, I would advise you to see a physican in person.
Hope this helps

Patient replied :

This was the most useless advice I have ever receieved.

Hello,
I am sorry that you feel this way.
I was trying to address the two fears you expressed, one the possibility of a serious leg trauma because of the persistence of the bruise and the second perhaps the possibility of Lyme disease because you mentioned lack of insect bites specifically.

In my opinion, in the absence of pain or disability to walk, there would be no justifiable reason to suggest pain medication. For the same, it seems unrequired to get an XRay done.
You also mentioned no positive family history of bleeding or clotting disorders and therfore there was no reason to suggest further workup of your blood parameters such as bleeding time, clotting time etc.
Therefore I advised that you treat the bruise, with cold packs to determine whether the hard lump would subside to know what the exact nature of the 'lump' was, bony or edema .

Hope this helps, please feel free to discuss further.
