Chances of TOXOPLASMOSIS from moving cats's litter.

Resolved Question:

I've got myself slightly worked up over the idea that I may have exposed myself to toxoplasmosis. We've been house sitting for my parents this week and they have a 16 year old indoor/outdoor cat that lately has become mostly an indoor cat because she's lost her hearing. She's 16 years old. I don't have much to do with her as I'm allergic to cats. But this morning I had to move her litter box, I didn't actually clean it out I just picked it up and moved it to a different location and then immediately wash my hands. But since this is my first child and I'm only 13 weeks pregnant im freaked out about the idea now. Do you have any insight on toxoplasmosis and if I'm just overreacting?

Please relax, the anxiety is natural for a first time mom - to - be.
You did not handle the cat litter, that is important.
Handling cat litter exposes a pregnant woman to the risk of toxoplasmosis.
You just shifted the box, and that does not carry any risk.
Please do not worry.
Just to reassure yourself, get Toxoplasmosis antibody test done 4 weeks afterwards.
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further.
Best Regards.
