METFORMIN and CLOMID for long menstrual period.

Resolved Question:

My LH is 13.8 miu/ ml
FSH is 6 miu/ ml
Prolactin 9.02ng/ml
Estradiol 32.4 pg/ml

Ct scan of ovaries is normal , no cyst found.

From last two months my menses were of 45 to 55 days because of tension at home.so Doctor took theses test on 2 day of menses
Doctor said I have lazy ovaries so he gave me metformin 1000 mg daily and clomid 3 to 7 day of menses
But I have hairs on chin and abdominal from last 7 years old patient, I am 27 yr old. 53 kg and heigh 5 feet 1inch. Theses medicines are for pcos. I am afraid if I am also pcos .
Other doctor in same hospital said I should not start medicine and try to have a baby in natural way
Dey said I need to do a lot of exercise which I don't do. I am trying to conceive from last two months.
In this month I took only metmorfin 1000 mg daily and I ovulate on day 22 and my luteal phase is of 16 days. So predicting my menses on 37 to 39 th day. Is this normal? I am noting my basal body temperature daily. It's high from last 14 days.. When I have normal cycle , my cycle is of 34 to 38 days. What should I do. Again blood test or medicine clomid should I take or everything is normal.

My height is 5 feet one inch my weight is 53 kg and w are trying to conceive from last two months yo ovulation occurs on 22nd day of cycle
my thyroid tests are also normal , I don't have report but doctor said it's ok tsh level

Hello.
Yes, in PCOS generally there are delayed cycles.
Metformin will help you.
Exercise and sensible eating will also help.
Also, do not stress out, as it has just been 2 months of trying to conceive.
You can try naturally with ovulation tracking for another 6 months, instead of straightaway taking Clomid.
If you do not conceive after 6 months, get your husband's semen analysis done, and your laparoscopy to check if tubes are open.
Take daily 5 mg per day folic acid.
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.

Yes, please continue Metformin and folic acid.
As regards diet, eat sensibly and eat everything in moderation.
Avoid fried food, fats, oils, ghee, outside food, sugar, high salt foods etc.
Eat a lot of dairy products, drink lots of water, have fresh green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, chicken, fish , egg etc.
Take care.

Hello doc, I went for ultrasound at 6 weeks but u/s predicts I am 6 week and 6 days pregnant with crl 8.5mm but no heartbeat detected. Doc said I may bleed in this week my doc said not good sign and come back a week after . But I am sure of my ovulation dates because using basal body temp and ovulation surge 4 weeks ago. can I expect viable pregnancy? I had pain in midnight three days before ultrasound for half an hour but no bleeding. now I am 6 w 3 days acc to my calculation but no bleeding yet.

As such by 6 weeks, cardiac activity should be visible in the fetus.
But PCOS is characterised by irregular cycles and erratic ovulation, so it is possible that the dates are not too reliable.
Give yourself one more week, and think hopefully before you arrive at any kind of conclusion.
Get a repeat scan after a week to check the viability of the pregnancy.
Meanwhile take rest, avoid any kind of stress or intercourse.
Take medications as advised.
Only a repeat scan will tell you the final results, so there is no point in worrying till then.
Take care.
